About

Hi, I'm Ciara Adkins β€” an AI-Native Expert Generalist who thrives at the intersection of technology, strategy, and storytelling.

As the second team member and Chief Innovation Officer at moonbird AI, I'm the tactical jack-of-all-trades keeping the engine running and the vision moving forward. My key roles include:

  • 🧠 Principal Solutions Architect: Translating client needs into tactical, user-centered solutions. I coordinate with dev teams, enhance user experience, and ensure our solutions deliver both function and delight.
  • πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ’» Head of Marketing: Leading all things marketing: managing and writing website content, creating LinkedIn campaigns, implementing SEO, writing blogs, case studies and white papers, crafting copy, and designing brand assets that reflect our evolving voice.
  • ✨ MCP Server Developer: Designing and building Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that integrate third-party data and automation into AI workflows. I've shipped servers for Amplitude, Mixpanel, Puppeteer+ Martech, and eBird (for our CEO, a passionate birder).

I've worked across analytics, product, and marketing roles at companies like WillowTree and The Home Depot, where I was known for simplifying complex problems, mentoring with empathy, and building bridges across disciplines.

How I Work Best

Personal insights to help us collaborate effectively

Creative Process

I'm motivated by the art of innovation. Like when writing songs, my process often starts as a simple idea or melody, layering elements until creating something I never imagined possible before. I love the journey of transforming initial concepts into something remarkable.

Processing Style

I need time to process informationβ€”my brain requires warm-up time. Being put on the spot or context switching during client meetings can be challenging for me. I offer my best insights when I've had time to think things through, and I might let things "cook" before responding.

Work Environment

I can get bored easily and value having focus time without interruptions. This is especially important when I'm deeply engaged in a task. I might not always be assertive about my own needs, sometimes prioritizing team harmony over my preferences. I tend to avoid conflict when possible.

Meaning & Purpose

I need to feel that what I'm doing matters. Having a clear purpose and caring deeply about the "why" behind my work is essential for my motivation and engagement. When I believe in the mission, my creativity and productivity flourish. I make decisions based on my deeply-held values.

Team Collaboration

I contribute best by listening attentively, offering supportive feedback, and bringing a values-oriented perspective that keeps projects aligned with human needs. I appreciate environments where quiet voices are valued as much as assertive ones.

Communication Style

My communication tends to be gentle and supportive, often expressing more through actions than words. I'm working on expressing my thoughts honestly while maintaining respect for others' perspectives, especially in group settings.

Decision-Making

I make decisions based primarily on personal values rather than abstract logic, considering how choices affect people. I prefer having simple, flexible frameworks for decision-making that align with my values.

Areas of Growth

I'm focused on improving my future planning skills, self-advocacy, and developing greater comfort with healthy conflict. I'm working on expressing my opinions in group settings, especially when they differ from the majority view.

The Expert Generalist Mindset

From my article "The Age of AI and The Age of the Expert Generalist" on Medium

This radar chart illustrates how AI amplifies my capabilities across multiple domains, especially in previously challenging areas like AI Systems Integration and UX/UI Design β€” embodying the "Tony Stark with Jarvis" metaphor.

AI-Native Approach

How I intentionally integrate AI into my professional practice

I'm proudly transparent about being an AI-Native Professional β€” someone who intentionally integrates AI into their workflow, thinking, and creative process.

Rather than hiding AI assistance, I believe in:

  • Thoughtful Integration β€” Using AI as a thinking partner, not a replacement for human judgment
  • Radical Transparency β€” Being open about where and how AI tools augment my work
  • Ethical Boundaries β€” Maintaining clear guidelines about when AI should and shouldn't be used

In practice, this means:

  • Crediting AI contributions in my creative and technical work
  • Developing sophisticated AI workflows that combine human expertise with AI capabilities
  • Teaching others to work effectively with AI rather than fearing or overhyping it
  • Recognizing AI's limitations while harnessing its strengths
